When designing and drawing your pattern, it’s important to plan for how it will be secured while you hook. We recommend allowing approximately 4 inches of extra linen on all sides—or around the entire circumference of the pattern. This space ensures the linen can be fastened securely to your frame or held firmly by gripper strips, keeping your work taut and stable as you hook. A well-secured pattern not only makes rug hooking more enjoyable but also helps maintain even loops and consistent tension throughout your project.
