Charlene’s artistic journey commenced at an early age, as she wandered the shores of southern Newfoundland, captivated by the treasures that washed up on the rocky beaches. However, It wasn’t until later in life, after her children had grown and her work duties were fulfilled, that Charlene fully embraced her passion for rug hooking and dyeing. This was the moment when her love for colours truly bloomed.
Charlene possesses a unique talent for understanding how colours and wool interact, not merely blending them, but allowing them to harmonize in their own way. When rug hookers work with her vividly coloured wool, it’s as if the wool itself collaborates in the creative process, handling shading and intricacies to bring depth and life into their work.
